PSS N rated yet?
Discussion
Last time I spoke to Michelin they said there was nothing in the pipeline, unfortunately.
At one point with the 9x7 cars I think almost half were delivered from the factory with Michelin PS2s. With 9x1 I think Porsche has deliberately tried to even things up a bit, looking at what is on the cars when they leave the factory.
There's also been so much new product the last few years I think resources have been focused on that rather than on approvals for older cars - the one notable exception being the Carrera GT where there was a clear need. Note that the 265/35 19 N rated PSS is the front tyre for the Carrera GT and is not designed for the 987.
Sounds like you've been having some fun if you're only getting 6k miles out the rears - any track days with those/ getting the back end out at every oppo?
I tend to get 10k out the rears and the fronts wear at about one-half to one-third of that rate depending on the split between town and motorway driving.
Have you tried Bridgestones? They are the best 987 tyre in my experience. They get warm quickly with street use and I find them more progressive at the limit than the PS2s. They also hold up well on the track unlike the Pirellis which disintegrate pretty quickly. My car came with Contis from the factory which aren't my cup of tea. The PS2s never gave me much confidence when they were cold or it was wet, although they were fine in dry and warm conditions.
The Bridgestones can usually be had for a great price too - the Yen devaluation has helped here.
