I am not a total expert, but am happy to have a look at what you have on the car and give you an interpretation on what matters and what doesn't, if it would help.
I assume you can make your own decision on the HPI report - is the expert inspection in a format that can be emailed to me? I already have a Chimaera and won't be looking for another one, by the way.

Why £600 to collect? Where is it located?

Why 2 HPI's? £600 to get it? Must be miles from you. Drop me a mail I may have some information for you.

What does the author of the report recommend? Seems very poor service to produce a report that can't be understood by the commissioner.

Qbee should be able to decipher it for you.

In fairness there's nothing complicated on a Chim.

What does the report say it needs doing to it?

£600 does seem a lot to get the car to you as well, even from Ireland.

The 600 includes fully enclosed single car transportation(not quite as posh as the brian james race shuttle but similar vibe) the uk re-regisration through the NOVA process, and the cost of my 2 hpis (uk and ireland)

if anyone wants to bid on the car transportation pls drop me a line

Ahh right, that makes sense now, i take it you haven't seen the car personally?

Does the report flag anything that needs done urgently or have any advisories?

Ah I had a feeling it was a Jockish one. That's why I didn't want to see the report in case someone thought I was after the info to buy one, but a one in Ireland wouldn't interest me. If you want send me a copy I'll have a look, have a look at my profile I've got a good idea what things cost, few years ago but I know what's involved.

heres some of the main items

- the nsf tyre is and has been for some time rubbing on the rear of the arch
- refinishing at front bumper and roughness at edge of nsf wing at bonnet channel
- the osr tyre is sometimes fouling the sub frame
- car doesnt lock
- tear in the perspex hood
- weeping pas reservoir
- rough idle and hesitation when driving at low revs (the ecu was remapped but then the ecu replaced in 2013)
- heater fan borked
- dash veneer multiple cracks
- right door front edge contact at rear edge of wing and some stuff stuck on door jamb to limit distance of travel of door!
- some weeping / residue area at rear of sump, clutch cylinder and rack gaiter ends
- no cover at endgine flywheel / clutch housing
- on take up of power and during on//off acceleration some clunking/backlash type noise in drivetrain
- weak front dampers (on side note there are red springs - aftermarkets?)
- surface rust on usual areas nothing too serious (ive seen worse)
- there is a longish bolt protruding out of the underside osr floor which looks to have received a jolt

my concerns are that the car may have been knocked or had a knock causing the misalignment hence the tyre rubbing along the diagonal axis from nsf to osr. there is no history of such through the irish or the uk hpis but as we know these things dont always take the formal route.

That's quite a list - what price the car?

Prefer to keep this thread on track so price is off piste....if anyone can genuinely shed light on the list and what time and costs may be involved as well as what can be done by a reasonably competent home mechanic with no lift then im all ears

Some cost for various bits based on quotes or work I've had done

New alarm £650 - Carl Baker
New CV Joints - £ 200 + VAT - Davemac propshafts (bolts supplied are wrong - need M10 fine, not M10 coarse)
New dash veneer - £265 + VAT - London Carriage Craft
Gaz Golds - £1000 Installed - TVR Power.

the 'not locking' could just be that the little rubber pad has fallen off the door so the door pin switch doesn't operate.

£0.50 for a bag of pattress grommets from screwfix

Does the report say what size wheels and tyres the car has, it's gonna need a bucket of money to sort that lot out unless you have the skills to do it yourself,
I think the only way to buy without looking would be to get a respected Tvr man to Check for you, even they can't always detect disastrous welds hidden by bodywork etc,
Generally they'd see the usual things we talk about on Pistonheads, go straight to the issues,
If the woodwork is very bad the cars likely to have been wet, incepreases the speed the veneer expands then shrinks again during summer.
I'd keep looking personally wink
