Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope - Alternatives?

I popped into "the watch shop" in Reading yesterday as I knew they stocked Meistersinger which I saw on here a while ago.
Whilst there the Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope caught my eye.
As it was, it didn't go beyond a quick peek through the glass cabinet as the kids were in tow.
Anyway, bearing in mind I like the stylings of the meistersinger and now the max bill chronoscope (and own a Stowa MO) what other watches might I add to a long-list of potentials.
I like the Nomos Metro too but wonder if it might be a little bit "black turtle neck" for me.
If I was wealthier I would have an IWC Portugese, but I'm not, so I'm looking for suggestions in the range £500-£1500.
