Ultima - The way to go?

Hi guys, wondering if you can offer some guidance.

I am toying with the idea of purchasing an Ultima - I've been driving TVRs for the last 4 years (all as my daily car). Now that I've got a Freelander for the practical side of things, this means my next sports car can be a bit more 'extreme'. I've currently got a Typhon on order but I'm investigating the uncertain situation with this - if it falls through, an Ultima would be fairly high on the list.

I do however, have a query which I hope you guys can help with:

I'll be honest, I'm terrible when it comes to the mechanical side of things - best I can do is check the fluids. I'm a complete novice, absolutely feckin ste.

This of course means a factory build or recent second hand Ultima will be on the cards. However when it comes to servicing and general maintenance, what are the options? Is it simply a long trip to the factory in Leicester (160 miles!).

Any other practical advice for a novice would be much appreciated as well

A good garage or engine builder of chevy engines would be enough so there's no need to take it to the factory. There are also some of the Builders of Ultima that are v. clued up who would service them. Where abouts are you in the world???

Pink Panther, I was in a very similar boat to you last yeat before I bought my Can AM (see my profile) I am "mechanically challenged" and also like you had run several TVR's before taking the plunge.
