Garmin 810 Edge GPS Problems
Discussion
I quite often have to reboot my 810 after a ride to connect it to my phone. That's not anything new though!
Overall my 810 is quite unreliable as it cuts out, crashes and switches it self off as and when it feels like it!
It's going back to Garmin next week, which is a real shame as wifey bought it for me as an xmas present. But from what I hear Garmin's customer service is quite good though.

GPS is ok but not been able to sync my Edge 510 with garmin connect since the 4th August update. They released another update 10th August which I hoped was to sort the issue but no joy so uploading files directly.
Check the App Store reviews of the update, says it all!
The iOS update has screwed any Bluetooth comms for my wife's 810 as well along with plenty other people on the Garmin forums. The only way to download courses or upload rides is via Garmin Express using a cable. The Android update has been fine and works perfectly with my 510.Check the App Store reviews of the update, says it all!
None of us having any GPS problems.

So far, Garmin customer service has been excellent for me. Much better than the reliability of their product! I am on my 3rd or 4th 510 now in 20 months. Each failed unit has been replaced and they keep sending me the full pack so I have a few spare cadence and HR monitors!

Mixed bag with the customer service for me. They answer the phone quick enough and certainly listen to the issues your having and try to help, but the follow up tends to be a generic email with links to their troubleshooting guides.
To be fair they exchanged my old Edge 200 after over a year when it started taking in water, and I will make sure they give me a refund on the 510 if they don't resolve the problem soon because it's unfit for purpose. I only bought it for the Bluetooth uploading.
Shame because I like the products, but amazes me how inept they are with the software.

Mine likes to turn itself off randomly. That's quite annoying at the best of times. Usually it happens at the worst of times though.
Garmin customer service has been non-existent for me. Sounds like I've been unlucky and I should try again.
I've found that you get much better stability if you just follow a map rather than having TBT set on a route. Its harder to navigate, but I find that I can go months without a lock up.Garmin customer service has been non-existent for me. Sounds like I've been unlucky and I should try again.

I can agree with this as mine likes to freeze/lock up if using TBT and for whatever reason you deviate from the course.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
