As title says I'm wondering if incorporating push ups into my morning routine (e.g. shower, shave etc..) is worthwhile.

A mate reckons it's not really but I figure any kind of resistance training is good.

Now I should point out I can only do 10-15 so I'd basically drop for 30 seconds only.

Worthwhile or doing more harm than good?

Good, I reckon. Why not?

There are many variations to work up to.

Daily may be more than is necessary, but can't see much harm, if any. Helps keep chest and shoulders in good working order.
Most mornings I do a little yoga, stretching and push ups which I'm sure helps keep me moving in my old age. Especially helpful the morning after a weight training session.

I'd suggest looking up a "50 push ups" programme or similar and following that.

No harm & I guarantee after a week you'll be doing double the amount you currently can complete.

Definitely will help by doing it every morning. Do some stomach scrunches too and you will feel and see a difference. Opt for 4 sets of each, completing 10 reps of each, thats 80 total reps.

Go for it..

I don't think they would do any harm.

You may find that wished you hadn't started though, soon you'll be doing 50 and above, and will end up spending more time on them than you first envisaged...

Just don't do them from cold if you have any minor shoulder (rotator cuff) niggles, a press-up is hyper-extending the joint to a lesser degree, otherwise crack on.

I've just resurrected the hundredpushups.com thread which gets you to 100 consecutive push ups in 6 weeks.
I'm on week 4, day 2.

No, I can just manage the full set, which yesterday resulted in 113 push-ups in total.
The last 28 were really tough though and I was losing form. I think I'll have to repeat this week.
