F80 M3 and Mk1 Escort

- Update* E92 M3 gone, F80 M3 as replacement
So i did what any pistonheader would do and got two new cars instead
First been wanting a V8 m3 for ages tbh i could of stretched to a m4 if i hadnt of bought the mk1 escort but found a great low mileage LE500 in Mineral white with Fox red leather which looks amazing.
Didnt fall in love with the car for the first two months as I was never able to open it up. Love the interior, gear box and noise (2.5 pipe mod) but never driven a NA car before and couldnt get to grips with the power delivery. Anyway spent a weekend driving and absolutely love it now in Msport its such a great car nimble and aggressive acceleration. After seeing my mates m4 the M3 imo looks nicer and the interior is lovely compared to his bright red interior.
Now on to the Escort. Been after one for a few years. Found a low owner one which worked and passed its MOT first time couldnt believe it although it had not been driven in 2 years to my knowledge. Now I got a good deal on it and have only spent about £350 on it not really had chance to run it around yet though so taking it out this weekend to the local country pub. It needs painting and the interior trim sorting but other than that its such a solid body shell.
Its a 1600xflow with big cam, bilstein suspension and terrible brakes!

as if I fall in love it will be treated to full paint.Let me know what you think paint wise as I really dislike the original colour. But its original and I have always kept all my cars original. So torn maybe light blue or i do like orange lol. Although saw a mk2 in a flat blue colour which looked immense but not really suitable for this. Feel free to help with inspiration of where to go with the escort

shame as i had 400bhp duratec engine lol but sold it would of been bit to much tbh but nuts
Fords paint options in the 60s/70s were superb, loads of great colours that look so vibrant today.
If it was a Mexico or an RS I'd say don't change it but you will not lose any value on a base model so choose something you like!
Signal orange, Signal green, Signal Amber, Olympic blue, Riviera blue, Java green, Signal yellow, Daytona yellow all look good.
Had the same dilemma myself last year for my mk2 and went with Olympic blue after being talked out of the greens!
If it was a Mexico or an RS I'd say don't change it but you will not lose any value on a base model so choose something you like!

It's a bit of a shed in all honesty but they are so much fun to drive. They do get under your skin as you are about to discover!

Love the MK1. I used to run them all through my 20's and early 30's so have fond memories. Have a BMW 2002 now though.

Update. Escort is going in for painting when im back from china end of Feb. Going to keep it the same colour! Have a 2 litre pinto available to me just need a type 9 box and some brakes. also going to get some RS alloys for it not minilites.
Also the M3 e92 has gone and been replaced with a F80 M3. I tried to fall in love with the N/A v8 but I just couldnt. absolutely love the F80 its amazing. great power, awesome interior. Bonkers and lairy but great on a commute its an improvement in everyway for me.

I've never really taken to the V8 M3 in any shape, the styling just doesn't do it for me. I have had thoughts in the past about changing to one biut think I'd be disappointed. The F80 M3 styling on the other hand is near perfect and I personally think it's one of the best looking M cars BMW have made for a very long time. The size is just right for me as previous M3's are just too small for my needs. Currently have an E60 M5 ( for 2 1/2 years ) and wouldn't mind an F10 M5 next but I think it's going to be just too big. Can see myself moving to an F80 M3 next but no plans yet as still enjoying my M5.
What plans do you have for the Escort apart from getting it painted? I would love a Mk2 RS2000 for shows etc,used to be into my Fords in the 90's. Had 3 RS Turbo's,3 Saph Cosworths and a 3DR Cossie. Oh and 3 2.8i Capris in the eighties plus 2 XR4i's

I think f80 m3 would be my choice your right m5 is mad in a straight line but a big car! Escort I'm gong to paint then drive to a few shows. But I think I'm going to sell it to fund a 911 turbo after summer maybe I'll regret that but always love the 911s
