Looking at a nice 2001 C4 , I've read on here before that the 3.4 engine has the more robust IMS bearing and doesn't suffer bore score, is this applicable to a 2001 car?

Baz hartech or Cmosse or anyone else who knows for sure can help me out I'd be grateful?

think 2001 is the cross over year so its possible you could have the newer type pistons etc with the less reliable coatings etc
and I belive I've read without stripping the engine its impossible to tell ;-(

For an element of balance, ours is a 53/03 C4 Cab and is now on 91k miles. We have had it from very low mileage and the actual engine hasn't skipped a beat! Just for balance mind smile

But then we religiously serviced it at OPC (full warranty) and now Northway Porsche....

2001 year could be a 3.4 or 3.6 - is it a facelift car or pre?
