How much to do a front wheel bearing?

. I would imagine not too much. Wheel off, caliper and disc off, hub off. Knock it out and replace.
Big cost might be the bearing itself. Depending on who you talk to, some say it's from a Jeep (160 quid or something like that), some say from a Transit (fairly cheap), some say do it yourself and buy the bearing from a supplier for a tenner.

When I posted that original reply, I didn't actually need a bearing. The place that I worked in at the time had good links with BSL and their rep said he could match any bearing part number, including those from cars - hence the statement I made.
I do however, need a bearing for my Jeep now (I think it's strange I have two cars that share hub assemblies) and after trying to get a bearing for that, have found that there is no part number for motor factors. The motor factor I use has stated that I'll probably have to go to the dealer for the bearing.
I have a Haynes manual for the Jeep that states you need all sorts of specialist tools to extract the bearing from the hub, so I've been put off stripping it down to retrieve a number.
What I need is someone along the likes of Joolz etc to say that the bearing extraction is either a specialist tool job or a simple stick it in a hydraulic press job.
In the mean time, my wheel rumbles on, albiet on a Jeep and not the TVR.

I'm just querying all this cause I need one myself and I'll need to get it done sooner rather than later. MOT coming up in a couple of months.
At my last service it was noted that it may need replacing as it was thought to be starting to go. Only recently it has started to become noticable but I was told at the time that they come from a Transit (this was from a well respected indy but not from Joolz). Don't know if they meant just the bearing or the entire hub assembly.
It would be nice if we can clarify all this once and for all cause the question comes up every few months.

Has anyone found out for sure what other cars the wheel hub assembly is from? Some mention Jeep, other Ford transit? Mine are all in partial states of assembly at the moment and I need a few bits and pieces to reassemble them. Also does anyone know what the current state of affairs is with powerflex poly bushes for the Cerb? I know some are available, but not all. Cheers.

Well, this is interesting..... the front and rear bearings on the Cerb are the same part - definitely the same as that used on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Replacement cost? Well, I phoned three local motor factors and not one could just supply a bearing replacement pack so, for the complete assembly......... Jeep Dealer £231.69 inc VAT, Motor Factor (best price) £186.30 plus VAT and Penninsular TVR........... £115 plus VAT. Well done TVR!!!!
