i managed to loose my camera the other day while away with work it was a Sony DC-HX20V. So i need a new camera but have no idea what ones to look at, a half decent zoom would be good, great quality, low light performance i want to be as good as possible im not taking a tripod with me anywhere, manual controls, but also a very good auto performance (im not very good), 4k Video, slow mo would be good too.

i dont want it to be huge so no slr but it doesnt need to fit in a shirt pocket either budget up to about 500 ish

Since you are happy to go a little larger, take a look at compact system cameras as well. An RX100 is the best camera that will fit in a shirt pocket but if you can go a fraction larger then the various Sony/Fuji/Olympus/Panasonic compact system cameras will comfortably out perform it.

A lot of extra bulk for no improvement in image quality. Unless you need a huge zoom regularly then they are best avoided.

the last one was 25-500 but a lot slower at 3.2 - 5.8 hence useless at night shots at all but widest while sat on a solid footing.

mainly it gets used on holidays they are mainly citys and the states i suppose at 20mp i have a lot of room to crop to in effect zoom.

not sure what amount of zoom i normally use i think mainly at widest.

Check the Exif data on some of your images, it will tell you what focal length was used.

Sony RX100 is an excellent piece of kit, but to get 4K video, with slo-motion you'd be looking at the RX100-M4 which is well above the £500 budget, the M3 is just a bit over the £500 but no 4k etc.

Sony doesn't plaster the camera with it's model number so the M3 (and M4) looks similar to the M1 - useful if asked by the wallet inspector "and how much was that!" .. just show them the Amazon page for the M1 biggrin

I think you will find the latter is an old Yamaha motorbike and doesn't take very good pictures.

You'll need an adapter to use Minolta lenses, they're A mount, the A6000 is E mount.
