A4 Saloon Rear Speakers

Just noticed yesterday that both of the rear speakers (in the parcel shelf) are not working properly - making a noise but very bassy and rattly. It's the standard unit fitted into a 2008 B8. Does anyone have any ideas? Find it unlikely that both speakers have blown but how can I remove them and what can I check?
