Head to block oil sealing
Discussion
Mine seems to have developed a bit of a gusher on the front off-side bank (right behind the alternator etc), which I guess must be coming from the oilway up to the rocker gear. Quite happy to pull the head to sort but I'm a bit surprised at it leaking there given the clamping area and gasket design. Any thoughts on why that might go?

How can it do that? oil way is on the inside & if it leaked anywhere would be into the valley under the valley gasket (or if breaching forwards into the head waterway).macdeb said:
Might it be the seal where the valley gasket meets block meets head. The small triangle bit that has to be trimmed if heads skimmed. IYSWIM
this is more than likely the offending area i had a leak on the other side which would leave a pool of oil on the front cover where the dizzy used to be. Pupp id be checking your not pressurising your block. it doesn't take much to cause quite a big leak, i run mine with the filler cap removed and a filter in place which seamed to cure it

Thanks for the replies - I did think about the rubber corner strip and will have another look (not that easy to see on mine); had discounted it as didn't think that much oil should be there (mist obviously present but it's not flowing over that surface do you reckon?)
The pressurisation point is a possible for sure and I have been intending to increase breathing capacity

Gary, if you need an additional rocker cover flame trap/breather I have a spare or IAWA 4x4 in Wellingborough sell them new for about £15 iirc (not quite as sturdy as the original but certainly do the job, just need to add an 'o' ring) they're on the Laurence Leyland Industrial Estate behind RGS Motorsport.
Thanks Richard; because of the location of the chargecooler and having had to reverse the covers, there's no way to get another flame trap in (I have one) but should be able to take another decent sized breather off the timing cover from the dizzy port. Been meaning to do it for ages...
Those valley gasket seals especially the triangle end joint between block to head to inlet man are one of the 1st places to leak with excess crankcase pressure IMO even before crank seals rocker gaskets etc, even when those seals are not fully sealing correct cure the crankcase pressure and the oil loss will stop at this point even if doing nothing else
