987.1 drivers door handle not working from outside?

For no obvious reason.....the drivers side door wont open by the handle from outside. Inside works as normal.

When the handle is pulled the window drops a bit (so the window thinks its working!) but the door simply doesnt open????

A known problem? Something I should DIY before taking to a dealer?

Had the same problem with my 996 c4s. Take door card of and have a look at the back of the door handle. There is a lever on the back of the handle which connects to a plastic piece that had come away. Simply pushed on. No problems since and a twenty minute fix. It's a fiddly job to get your hands in to fix but relatively straight forward. just make sure the sir bag can't go of!
