New 986 S owner with immobiliser/ door locking problem.
Discussion
Hi all, bought a MY2000 Boxster S a few days ago, everything seemed fine on the test drive & on the journey home. Parked up & tried to wind the window up & snap! Yes the regulator cable snapped. Ordered one & have fitted it, all sorted & working again, but I can't get everything sync'ed up, ie when locking the car with remote & then unlocking it the drivers door will not open. With a bit of faffing & pressing the key fob I can get both doors open & drive the car, but when I stop, get out & lock/unlock the car the drivers door stays locked again.
Does anyone have any ideas please, I am stuck?

It is possible when the new regulator was fitted something was knocked loose, a wiring connection perhaps, but that you can get both doors open, it reads more like some "confusion" in the electronics associated with the door locking/unlocking.Does anyone have any ideas please, I am stuck?
Thus you might try a battery disconnect. If you go this route be sure you turn off the ignition and remove the key. Obtain the radio code and write it down. Be sure you follow the proper battery disconnect and reconnect procedures. Once the battery is disconnected do not close the trunk lid. Press on the brake pedal if you want to help drain away any residual power in the car's electrical system.
After reconnecting the battery you will or should reset the window limits and calibrate the E-Gas unit. Oh and enter the radio code.
The steps to do these things are in the owners manual. For my 2002 to reset the window limits press sand hold the lower button to fully lower the window. Release the button. Then press and hold the raise button and continue to hold it down until the window is all the way up and for 5 seconds more. Release the button. Done. Repeat for the other window.
For E-Gas calibration with the key off and your foot off the gas pedal and throughout this procedure turn the key to the on position but no further. Wait 60 seconds. Turn the key off for at least 10 seconds. Done. The next time you start the engine the calibration will be complete.
The time doesn't have to be exact, for instance 60 seconds could be 61 seconds or more -- within in reason I suppose. I have no way of knowing if less than 60 seconds is sufficient so I just use the car's dash clock and when it advances to a new minute I turn on the key and when it advances to the next new minute wait a few seconds then turn off the key. If I need to drive the car immediately I count down 10 seconds making sure I err on the side of more seconds rather than fewer seconds before I start the engine.
