Judging from the extent of the rust I reckon it is something built in Italy about 18 months ago . . . .

Whatever it is, it's not flathead powered. Front timing cover has Standard/Triumph overtones as is the plate on the front of the block which it appears to be mounted to the chassis off - assuming it's of British manufacture of course.

could do with a higher res photo. There's a logo on the timing cover but it's hard to see.

My vote is early TR2 or 3 ... drum brakes - engine has all signs of Standard/Triumph (like the Standard Vanguard engine on the drive !) could be earlier ....

If it's Standard/Triumph would have to be pre-war. Don't think any post-war Standards/Triumphs had the dizzy on the right of the block. Weren't they all dizzy and push rods on the left/inlet and exhaust ports and manifolds on the right?

Damn - leaf spring front end and yes distributor on the wrong side so I'll quit and wait for the brains to arrive ...
