This 'Iran' thing........what can we 'do' ?

It's been posted before but the U.S. is clearly outlining more aggresive policies against what they see as 'countries that harbor (sic)terrorists ' and where the people are 'oppressed and have a right to thier freedom'....this now includes IRAN (do they have oil there ? 
)
This is worrying me.....i'm a simple bloke, just do my work /pay bills/ look after my family / drink excessively......but i worry about my little 'bubble' being burst by a country thousands of miles away that is intent on becoming a world dictatorship but always drags us along for the ride .....i DON'T WANT MY COUNTRY TO BE INVOLVED IN THIS KIND OF POLICY.....i'm not so stupid as to believe everything Michael Moore produces but am not nearly niave enough to swallow the sh1te that G W Bush shovels down the throats of 80% of dumbass whooping and hollaring fellow countrymen of his.
Why ,here in the UK ,where most people see those policies for what they are , are we still sending our servicemen to thier deaths for a 'cause' that no-one
has come near to justifying????

Yes....i will vote against the current incumbents of Downing St......but sure as night follows day ...the next bunch of Tossers will toe a coalition line.....
I dunno why i've posted this ,just feel an amazing hopelesness about things that country does get involved in........WW1 .....yes i can see that, WW2 ....that too Suez ,Aden ,Falklands .....to a point

Yes, I'm worried about this too.
US officials have been dropping the Iran issue into interviews for about 2 months now, getting more and more strong in their rhetoric, culminating in the State of the Union speech last night.
Sounds like the speak leading up to the Iraq war to me.
What bull will they feed us for the reason this time eh?

GWB didn't give a flying FCUK about foreign policy before 9/11 and now he's invading any country he pleases,(in an effort to solve world peace of course).

Actually what could be more natural than to invade Iran? After all the U.S. overthrew the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh (CIA did the fieldwork and engineered this) and installed there shiny new dictator, the Shah (a man who had a secret police force that murdered and tortured thousands of Iranians). However not content with their new “Shah” the people overthrew him in 1979 and installed a rather radical and fundamentalist government. Since then however they have become more moderate and now have an elected Prime Minister and the country is moving towards reform!
So as you can clearly it’s about time that America intervened and set them back on the course to dictatorship.
By the way in his state of the union address President Bush mentioned “Freedom” 21 times, how very interesting.
Note: I have a very left-wing socialist perspective so I may not have been entirely moderate but to the best of my knowledge all of the above is true.

Dont they run the DNS primaries and the main eastern and western fibre backbones????

Last I heard this was not the case, in fact the mullahs have been blocking attempts at reform and becoming gradually more and more hardline, to the dismay of the numerous moderate Iranians.
I don't believe for a moment that the yanks have any real intent to invade Iran - they are already stretched thin militarily speaking and could not put the men on the ground to do this. The current situation is sabre rattling to try and get the Iranians to back down on the nuclear issue. Has to be said that the deal the European leaders forced through against the yankee wishes to prevent sanctions of the Iranians until they abide by the nuclear non-proliferation treaty is so much chicken shit. Iranian politicians themselves said that they are just delaying the nuclear program slightly and have no intention of stopping it altogether.
The situation will be settled by diplomacy I hope, but I have sympathy with the idea that fundamentalist mullahs should not be allowed to arm themselves with nuclear weapons, even if in reality their nuclear program would require a decade to provide sufficient enriched uranium for this to become a reality.
