Hi guys - first time poster on the 964 blog.
I have a 964 with about 143k on the clock - she has given me no major problems since my ownership of about 5 years or so....
She has recently started smoking at standstill - at first I was told that the one of the pipes to the power steering pumps was leaking (which in fairness I think was) with the oil hitting the heat exchanger - I had that resolved but it's still smoking....
I am told that it is actually the cam chain gaskets (in addition to a couple of gaskets in the region) that is actually leaking ......been quoted a fair chunk to get it resolved (including replacing some of the tin wear which looks pretty badly rusted etc...)
Rather than going to the garage that diagnosed the problem (never really dealt with them), I wanted to get a second opinion.....anyone have an opinion on whether I should take the car to GT-one in Chertsey or Porsche Torque in Uxbridge......
Never dealt with Porsche Torque but heard good things....GT one I know can be punchy in terms of costs...

I have had loads of 964's and earlier, where is the smoke coming from? Out the exhaust or just general smoke coming out the wheelarch/bootlid?
Could be coming from a number of places, some a cheap to fix some others are expensive, interesting that you have a quote, did they find where it was coming from?
