Some time ago the factory were close to offering a power upgrade on the 3R.In fact it was one of the reasons that it was so important to have the 6 speed optional box.Any news on this?would love some more horses!!!

Not going to happen with the M400 around. Not from the factory anyway...

'cause the existence of a factory approved 3/3R upgrade would potentially reduce M400 sales I guess!

What's in it for them? They probably want to keep 3R's and M400's apart with no half breeds in between. Also I bet putting an M400 engine in a 3R would cost some way to the pure car swap cost.

I'd like some more horses too. I think you'll find in the coming months there'll be a few options for you anyway

That made me think of a name for it: The M12 GTO3R "Cherokee" - it would have stripes (warpaint) and 22" (wagon) wheels...

Oops, I'm off again better retire for the night! :-)

No thats not the case as I for one am not parting with another 20k to swap, the R is such a good road car it just dont make sense with that sort of differential and i am sure im not alone!

There is a post somewhere, i think from Obes, about the JNM power upgrades. As they build the engines anyway i think they should be pretty high quality. I belive one option gives 500bhp

We have no current plans to provide performance or dynamic upgrades for either the 3R or the M400.

The M400 was developed from the ground up to cater for a significant power and torque increase, hence its underpinnings are quite different to those of the 3R.

One of the reasons we have not offered a power upgrade is that we would want to develop the product properly, to ensure that durability and driveability were maintained. Our resources only allow a focus on one project at a time, and at the moment that's the M14.

OK, accepted. Factory not in a position to pursue. That means we need to get the aftermarket guys on the case :-)

The us guys are already ahead of this.

Frankly you can get it done in England too at at least 2 places. Its just you actually have to be willing to put your money down rather than just talk about it on a forum

Personally I don't want any more power. Can already scare myself with it.

I think Dan's point was more along the lines "there's more BHP already in the car than most of us can handle - anyone posting claims they need more horses ...(bullshit bullshit)...."

As I mentioned my best standing start is 5.00 seconds - so its not the car that needs the instruction more myself the dummy driver.

Humble pie never hurt anyone.

Well I certainly wasn't intending to knock anyones driving - you've seen mine!

Its just that there are upgrades out there if you want them.

I'm accutely aware that the last thing I need is more power. I already have enough trouble getting it down as it is. I got the tail stepping out in an overtake last saturday. More through luck than judgement, I'll assume, it came back in just fine. It was a reminder that I don't need more power though

We are all driving cars that can get to 100 in 8-9 secs. Frankly I'm finding traction more of a limit than horsepower at road speeds.
