I was driving down some country lanes today and span the car into the kerb crunching the front clam, knackering the crash structure, knocked a wheel out of alignment. wrecked two wheels one front and the other the rear on the opposite side. this was all coutersy of the tractor who had left mud all over the road!

I know I should have been paying more attention, I know a lad who has put two cars in the fields at the side of this road due to the mess the farmers leave.

oh well, its going to Christopher Neil in the morning to have an inspection prior to me telling the insurance what the quote is. I hope they're sitting down!!

sorry to hear it.

Someone mentioned before that you can actually hold the farmer liable for mud on the road as they apparently aren't allowed to drive straight onto it with a muddy tractor. Dunno how much truth there is to this?

B*gger sorry to hear that. I think DanH has a point - worth investigating and noting to your ins company. Any chance you can pop down there with a camera and take a pic of the road if it's still covered in crap?

Sorry to hear about your accident It would be worthwhile photographing the road so that you at least have some evidence! Did the police attend? The link below is a debate from yesterday over this very issue

If muddy tractors are going to use the road, they are supposed to put up signage to warn you. You should have grounds for a claim so long as you can establish whose tractor is to blame.

Tough break all the same. Glad it's only the car.

So sorry to hear that, know how you feel, almost 2 months ago to the day I stacked my new 111R into the central reservation of a dual carriageway when exiting a roundabout, road conditions were pretty crappy. photo's of the crash at www.dougward.co.uk.

I was gutted, but soon realised that the most important thing is that my legs were still attatched to my body and no one else was hurt.

Just picked the car up again today, 2 months later (delayed by the fact that the locking wheelut tool required to remove the wheels had gone missing) - ~£13,000 of repairs (New front and rear clamshells, 4 new road wheels, new rear suspension, new exhaust, splitter, heat shield and a whole bunch of other stuff).

The car was repaired at Panel-Wise in weybridge (recommended by Bell and Colvill), have to say they have done a marvellous job and the car is no different to when it was new. In fact the annoying rattle I had (discussed in other threads on here) has gone!!
