R53 JCW Stiff clutch

Morning everyone,

Can anyone help me. I'm not that well versed when it comes to Mini, but saw one for sale - a 50k mile 2004 Cooper S JCW (R53), mechanically sound, straight body work, AMAZING leather buckets.... but the heaviest clutch in the world. Is this an indication of a problem? Is there anything that can be done to make it a little lighter?

Any help or experiences is much appreciated.
