I saw a picture somewhere of a limo missing most of its middle section.

You see them parked up by the Bristol Workshop on the A4 from time to time after altercations on the Hogarth Roundabout.

When they chop these things in half, and weld another 15 feet in the middle, do they have to follow any sort of regulations?

I mean, they must flex like bastards, and the standard brakes can't be up to the job anymore.....

Some people tend to describe any large saloon car as a limousine, but I thought the term 'limousine' meant a car where the rear passenger compartment is separated from the driver by a partition, usually incorporating an openable glass panel.

Unlikey. Most are driven by trained professional drivers, piloting VIP's around. Much more of a link there I suspect.

Yes and all my accidents (cars pulling out in front of bike) have been under the speed limit....

Although if you see some of the people who drive the 'party' limousines about....'Professional' isn't a word that immediately springs to mind..

Mostly, GM and Cadillac have approved limousine converters and they receive a special limo chassis which is much thicker than normal (the Lincoln Town Car limo chassis is same as the Ford Crown Vic police/taxi chassis I think)

The brakes and suspension are up-rated - 5/8" ball joints instead of 1/2" etc.

Most limos drive at or under the speed limit! How do you know that? Do the partnerships collect and collate average speeds of the stretched chav mobiles that frequent our town centres on a saturday night?

There are very few accidents involving limos! There are very few accidents involving luminous green cadilacs, but it doesn't prove anything!

Come on Gary you can do better than that.

My post was very tongue in cheek....Especially if you marry it up to the post where I questioned the 'professionalism' of some of the limo drivers.

I've normally stopped them for having 'occupants' hanging from the windows. Sometimes actual people, sometime bodyparts...
