Slight Hesitation...

Hi All

I've noticed that occasionally when I bury the accelerator, at around 2,500-3,000RPM the car seems to 'hesitate' for a split second before getting on with it.

It only happens under hard acceleration and otherwise the car's running better than fine.

Any clues as to what it might be?

Phew! Where to start?

Make sure your HT leads are all firmly connected (and clean and dry). Is anything like the plugs, leads, connectors, in need of replacement?

I had this for a while.

In my case I think it was the coil...

Thanks old boy, I'll have a poke around at the weekend. Everything looks in good nick, so hopefully no need for replacements...

Was it easily rectifed? Is it the sort of thing that can be left until the next service (c.2 months away) if it's not an easy DIY job?

Had the same problem. I needed a new set of HT leads (about £45) and the car was sorted

that explains why you were having trouble keeping up at the goodwood meet.

we were all abit worried.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Morgala - spot on mate. I replaced the HT leads and all is working fine now!

While I had the bonnet up, I also cleaned the stepper motor - what a difference at start up, no more struggling to maintain revs!

And a BIG thanks to Tim @ ACT (aka 2 Sheds) who had the leads in stock when I called on Friday afternoon and was kind enough to let me eat into his weekend by picking them up from his place on Saturday. Top quality service!

Yup, do it Cosmos. The obvious difference in quality between the standard jobbies and the Magnecors is huge. And in a rather sexy blue, they'd even suit with Trev's complexion...

How much are they, Nuggs? IIRC about £90. (Sorry, I didn't mean to answer my own question!) Or am I mistaken? If they're over £90 I might have to pop into mum's on the way there and see if dad will consider, er, giving me something towards the cost!

I don't have the receipt with me, but IIRC with the plug extenders (and if you're going to do it properly you wil need them - the standard ones fitted to mine were pitted and nasty) it came to just under £120.
