Pine tree sap on Targa roof

Hi guys

Left the targa under a pine tree for a few minutes and it seems to have rained sticky sap down on it. Didn't notice at first and one particular glob of the stuff has hardened on the fabric roof. Before I go at it with an old toothbrush and some destructive chemicals, does anyone know of a tried and tested way the get the stuff out which won't discolour the top, or reduce its water repellency?

I'm not sure if it will work but try some hot, soapy water with a softish brush.

Thanks. Used fingernail and warm water. Let's see when I get home tonight whether it as a success!

failing that some tar or nail varnish remover. Small amount of either will soften and dissolve the sap
