7 months ownership - 550 miles

I've now owned by Cerbie for 7 months, bought it as a play thing, and only bring her out the garage when its dry. Been very busy last couple of months and not had any time to play.

Insured the car for 3000 miles and woundered if I should have done 5000 miles. Anyway, checked the mileage last night and I've only done 550 miles!!! What a let down...

A great car and I don't use it enough, I must try harder and get my priorities right, less work and more play. Thats it....2450 miles in 5 months, if she'll start

Am I really that bad for not taking her out more often!

Yes, you're really bad. What on earth are you thinking ? Poor neglected car, I'm going to report you to the NSPCC (thats cruelty to Cerberas).

Get out in it and enjoy it. We've done 450 miles in the last 2 days in ours

I reckon it takes 20K miles before you even begin to know how to drive it properly ....... I wouldn't fancy pushing a Cerb (or any TVR) if I wasn't all that familiar with it...

use it every day - then you will enjoy it more !

I reckon I exceed 10k miles a year easily...

as a matter of interest... how many TVR miles do people here have under their belts ?

I reckon I've done at least 60K miles in various TVR's (most of that was my Chim).

Anyone else ?

550 miles is shocking. Since April my Tuscan's been off the road for 6 months in total (engine work, engine rebuild, shipping back from france, clutch, repsray, servicing). So, I've only had it on the road for 4 months. Have done almost 8,000 miles in that time. Which is all the more impressive (if you care!) when you consider:
1. I live 4 miles from work, and don't do any travel for work. (I can cycle in quicker than drive)
2. I have my heavily modded 300bhp Rover as a runabout (and it's actually really fun to drive)
3. I have a Pug 206 as ANOTHER runabout

My view: if you work hard, save up, and suffer the foibles, then you might as well drive it every chance you get!

But, I do 25,000 miles a year in my Audi and when I get home its late and weekends are often wet and my cerbie deserves better than a wet salty road surely!

I will drive her more in the Spring/Summer, I promise, and will definately be coming to the long awaited Cerbie get together in September?? where ever it is!

Simple solution, do the 25,000 in your Cerbera - sell the Audi...

The more I drive it the better it gets, long runs and track days where the engine doesn't have a chance to cool right down seem to make it much more settled.

Oil usage drops dramatically on long runs than short, just shows how the rattly bits like to swell into their space.

If it's sunny and I'm off to see a client out of town, I take the Cerb, they love it. It is one of the only out & out supercars that people don't think t*****r!

Or maybe that's just me?

WTF 550 miles since June 2004!

Had my Cerby for 3 months exactly on Sunday and have done 3600 miles come rain or shine. I live 300yrds from the office, so walk to work every day, I have my own Business so the snippets of time I do get are spent
a) with my wife
b) in the Cerb
c) back in the Cerb

Get in the Cerb NOW and drive it. Anywhere, it doesn't matter. Throw the map away and hope you get lost and it takes you all weekend to find Bedford again and you could double your mileage in a day.

Nope, not going there.

550 miles is absolutely discgraceful. If you are not going to appreciate your car more you should sell it to a more deserving owner who will love and cherish and drive it.

Salty roads are okay as long as you are all Waxoyled up and wash the underside regularly - It's not sulphuric acid exactly! You will have time to get home and wash it before your car disolves around you!

I've done 14,000 miles in the last 7months in mine .

Only car and I wouldn't have it any other way .

BTW, the Cerb has been a fantastic 'winter' car if you know what I mean. A real sense of confidence in all conditions .

Sorry - Not too quick on the uptake - been a bit busy lately
But did you say 550 miles? Had mine for three days and have already exceeded that!!! (if I could install a m/wave, kettle and sleeping bag I wouldn't get out of it!)
Its alright havin' a chat on these forums n' you get some great advice - but get out there and meet these guys with there cars - set up a local "Hoon" with others in your area - nothing like the sound of five or six tivs causing mayhem in a city centre - right guys? - Excellent day today in Eastbourne.
Someone posted on here its the best fun you can have with your clothes on - but I tell you what if they shipped in 3 young nubile nurses all the way from Sweden (sorry just a fantasy of mine - Ahem!) and told me it was either a night with them or a blast in the car - I know which I'd choose you old guys out there who've had your cars for a while might differ somewhat!!!

Have to speak to Mike in the morning for the diagnosis, but I don't think it'll be simple (is anything on a Cerb??). What's p***ing me off is that she had a new clutch, master & slave cyls/seals, bellhousing and flywheel at 16300 and now 4k later all is not well. I haven;t hammered the clutch at all and 70% of the mileage I've done had been mway miles, so i'm at a loss at to why I should join the CFC so soon!!! What's also weird is that the car will still creep forward at 2-3 miles and hour when you let the clutch out. Dunno. But hopefully the warranty will sort it.

Oh and today is my 3 month anniversary of ownership. So woohoo, I think
