Just started watching Doc Martin for the first time, all 9 series passed me by at the time. It is very good isn't it. I assume it was a big show in its day.

Enjoy it while you can. The central 'joke' about Dr. Ellingham and his "quirky" character gets very tiresome before long.

The show had felt like it was running of out of ideas for a while.

Hope to be proven wrong, but my expectations are not high for the new series.

Exactly plus he resigned as a doctor at the end of the last series so it was hard to see it carrying on.
