New Wheels
I may be a little slow but could someone explain to me the finer points of ordering new wheels. i have read about off sets and spacers and that I may need wheels for a Peugeot. It is all a bit confusing. Also there isn't a website that would show what different styles of wheels would look like on the car. (too much to hope for)

Old Wheels
Is there any value in the old wheels. Three are in fairly good condition but one is damaged.

The important aspect is the offset.

If you plot a line through the centre outer egdes of the wheel. The offset is the distance from this point to the hub mating surface.
Too great an offset will result in your wheels sitting well inside the arches.
Too small an offset and you will risk your tyres scuffing the arches under cornering loads.
Both will also dramatically affect the steering geometry on turning as you will change the scrub angle.
If you consider that the hub swivels through the angle between top and bottom ball-joints, the further outwards the wheel sits the larger the circumference of the turning circle will be for the given wheel. This will affect the steering as it will alter the relationship between the front wheels when turning.

Having said all that... Everyone knows the most important aspect is the looks

and it is correct that Peugeot offset (12-15mm)is about right.

Yes, it's very confusing isn't it.
I can't answer your question on new wheels but with regard to old wheels, it would appear that these (paticularly Oz 8 spokes) are at a premium and I have heard some silly prices.

Bearing this in mind, would it not be better to consider refurbishing your existing wheels, I understand that repairing damaged wheels is possible.

Just an idea

Bob, my S is a 1.5 I think.1989 on an "F" plate.

Bugsy, I'm not really a great fan of the wheels and I fancy something a bit different.

From my experience with Peugeot compatible wheels, the hub fitting collar (not sure of the technical term) is slightly larger than the Ford hub fitting. I got some really thin spacers knocked up by a workshop but I think most just live with it. Not sure if this is a problem in reality but my local tyre fitters seemed most concerned and weren't prepared to fit without the spacers...
