... after 27 months loyal service. Completely dead, no lights and power-on switch totally unresponsive...

Checked fuses, leads etc with no joy. Went out with a "bang" whilst in standby mode.

Seems that it's out of warranty unfortunately and the retailer is being less than helpful...

Any suggestions on where to get it resuscitated ?

Cheers,

UV

Sorry to hear that. I have got exactly the same model, and I'd hate to see it go.

I have had good experiences with Denon/Marantz support (based in Ireland) over the years. They may be able to suggest what is wrong and recommended repairers in your area.

The general response is that modern electronics are uneconomical to repair, but the equivalent model to this one (SR7009) is still £800 to buy new, so you'd assume it is repairable for much less than that.

Lots of independant repairers about. Sounds like it's just a power supply/switching issue, so maybe a relatively simple fix. Depends whether it's damaged anything more sensitive on it's way out. Have you tried rremoving the case and seeing if anything obvious has blown?

A small reminder to the retailer about the SOGA may make them sit up and be more helpful
