What bands should I be using in the UK,
KA, KU, K, X?

K-Band for Gatso's.

Radar detectors not much use for anything else.

They don't work very well in cars with heat reflective windscreens.

K for Gatso but they are about as much use as a fish with tits for anything else. Just slow down its easier

When I brought my V1 over here 12 years ago it would pick up most speed measurement equipment that wasn't buried in the road. Now it's almost none of them, but it does find supermarket door sensors
