I have a 2003 A6 Allroad which I love, it brilliant in every way except one.... the air suspension.

I think it's quite well known that the airbags in the suspension unit develop splits which means when you return to the car in the morning you find it on the deck. I replaced one of the fronts last year and now the other one has gone! They are very expensive so I'm looking to avoid replacing it again and again.

I wonder if anyone else has come up with a solution? Would be possible to swap out the air suspension for a fixed system? Or am I dreaming?!

I will be keeping an eye on this thread. I have had my 2005 Allroad for a month now, I think there are aftermarket German parts you can get for a fraction of the dealer prices, that is what I plan to use when the time comes. Mine is due a service according to OBC, think it's OIL and filters.

Yes, air suspension shop in Germany can save you some money on parts and have a shop on ebay UK also.

It is absolutely possible to fit conventional A6 coil springs and quite a few people have done.
