That rounf thing behind the fuel filter is the charcoal canister, right? What job does the sensor have on top? Can I just connect the two ingoing fuel lines and leave the canister out?

It isn't a sensor, it is a solenoid operated valve.

Only if you want to subject your fuel tank to manifold vacuum...

biggrin Thanks, now I know how it is working. Problem solved without changing the atmosphere in my fuel tank.
