cant see, cant feel my feet, cant get enough
Discussion
oooh dear. it begins. 7th time out in the spd6 now. thats this evening. i know from obsessions of old that this is where it allll starts.
the searching old posts for possible similar problems to 'log' for future refernce; the looking at other peoples cerbs (nice use of the lingo huh? you can tell i belong) and secretly wishing youd got that model instead; the obsessing over the relative merits of a three light/ four light modification in a car that fundamentally has many and much bigger problems that frankly should be treated first; the constant looking out the window; THAT bloody smell in my nostrils; the 'turning up' of my ears to listen out for any new and possibley calimitous noises; still being on the internet at 11:52 on a friday night. im sure i had a life, once. ho hum. lets get to it..
my lights are rubbish, and despite searching loads of posts i cant find a supplier that sells either blended or non blended lights. in fact i cant find a pic of the non blended ones. anyone got anything? i can justify this 'need' cos its very, very dark in norfolk. and thats in the built up areas. plus, you know, i want 'em. or should i just go for better bulbs in the meantime, and since im assuming TVR wiring is made of liquorice laces, does this mean i HAVE to have a new wiring set up?
next, its BLOODY cold in my car. how do i make thse poxy heaters work? both dials on? both dials fully clockwise? just the red dial on? is there an upgrade/ fix/ remedy? or do i need to invest in thicker socks and some sort of fingerless driving gloves for both grip AND circulation?
next, i am already obsessed with it boiling over. it has that kind of classic-car-hot-fluids-oh-no-not-a-traffic-jam-there-goes-the gauge-ohgod-ohgod-smell about it doncha think? ive just found a kit on one of the sites from here that comes with some water-wetter, what looks like a new thermo and im guessing a new otter switch? all in for about 44 notes. anyone tried and/ or able to recommend for or against this? will this help with my now total lack of feeling in my feet? Sir Ranulp Fiennes? Pah, i shit 'em.
also, how many nytol is it safe for me to take to allow me to have any kind of a chance of sleeping at all, tonite or indeed ever again?
good god, i hope im not the only one who does this.
thanks in advance all. sorry to go on so.

Know how you feel. Sympathy. Now stop whingeing and get out there and enjoy yourself. Long drive is what it takes, none of that piddling down to the shops and back. Stick a flag in the map no less than 50 miles from the house as the crow flies and just do it.
Why not make better use of the potential lighting that was fitted to the car but was never properly wired up?www.mod-wise.com/page12.html

yay, so im not mad? well, thats ok then.
ive done 250 miles today already, but since you insist, im off to 50 miles away.. i wonder if they have 24 hr garages where ever that is?
thanks matey, advice greatly appreciated. and by the way, thats not me whinging, thats me being happy. when it inevitably goes wrong, then youll know whinging. i could give even my missus a run for her money in the whinging stakes(why not? i give her all my other money for much less)
thanks again bud,

You sound just like my husband
made it through the first night!!
no false alarms; no new scratches; no bits missing and so far as i can see, no families of immigrants building small communities in the boot. No worries.
wait...now thats the third time today.. why does my bank manager and my local mechanic keep wandering past my house and laughing and doing that sort of rubbing hands together motion? do they know something i dont?

When you do finally hear something unusual coming from the engine area, or gearbox area, or rear suspension area, or central console area, or door panel area, or front brake area ad infinitum you're going to go into meltdown
The one squealing and whining noise that you really won't welcome will come from the passenger side of the car. It will take you a while to resolve. But when you do work out what it is the solution will be simple. Either drive more sedately or remove your missis from the car

in an earlier post i put a link to a cooling package that offered a new thermo, otter switch and some magical stuff called water-wetter, and i was wondering if this might be a worthwhile safety measure to protect against boiling over etc.. think its still up there, if not try:

no, im just trying to eliminate as many possible things as poss now with cheap and easy fixes. i do a lot of miles a year and from past experienc there is no worse experience than sitting at traffic lights watching your p and j boil up, much to the delight of everyone watching. plus, you know, i want to get my hands dirty!
Hello nervous.........
First...change your P/H name to Relaaaaax......
Second...stop being nervous......
The problems will come....eventually...as they would in any car you purchased.
Why spend money now if you don't need to. Put the pennies (any that your wife hands over
) into a little piggy bank for the day you need to spend some serious money on her.
Other than that.....enjoy it.......revel in it....kiss it goodnight when you leave it in the garage at the end of the day.......life's too short to worry so much

...//P// See my other posts in your other threads, but on the heater issue, here are another couple of things to try:
When you get in the car, give the black button a jab to fire up the electrics (hopefully not literally) and listen to the fans - you'll have a better chance of hearing them with the engine off. Then you can trace airflow round the cabin. In my car it's impossible to hear the fans working when the engine's on, so on a couple of occasions I have been sitting twiddling my knobs with litte effect....
If for example you're blowing cold air with the hot then in the current weather, they'll probably cancel each other out. Also do try and find that vent in the footwell (see other posts again).
