Fisher Fury jacking points
Discussion
Morning all,
Yesterday I finally bought a 1998 Fisher Fury, 2L Zetec with a live rear axle and I think a lightweight chassis. On the drive back I noticed a bit of vibration through the steering above about 60mph, so I am guessing it needs a wheel balance.
I thought rather than entrust the car to the local Quikfit I'd just take the wheels off myself, but I'm not 100% sure where I can jack the car and place stands.
The obvious points seem to be under the axle diff casing (this is a solid Escort rear axle) and under the front crossmember between the shock mountings where there is a vertical chassis member above, but have I got the right places?
And where are the best places to put axle stands?
I don't want to break it on only the second day.
thanks
James

Pretty much any part of the chassis is ok.
Where the suspension mounts to the chassis is the point that takes the full load of the car and safe to jack, always use some wood or a jack with rubber insert so as not to chip paint or powder coat off the chassis.
If in doubt use a strong piece of wood across 2 chassis members to spread the load.

Escorts [rwd ] were always jacked on the diff housing for most of the 50+ years I have been playing with them , its the later front wheel drive variants that you should not jack on the rear beam as they reputably bend ,so on your car its fine to use it and also use it for axle stands
