2004 Passat Sport 1.9 6 speed box

Hi all,

I have suffered the above gearbox whine from the driveshaft bearings, we replaced the box with a 'recon' unit from a 'specialist' but after a couple thou miles it's started again!. Does anyone know a reputable box recon company or also suffered the same to share there solution. Cost wise the recon box was £600, I can get a bearing kit for £200 and strip it etc and replace, or buy a sport with a good box, swap, replace the old with the kit refit to second car and sell but really it's a bit of a chew!!
