Hi all,

I have posted this before but our Audi have been broken into twice in the last month. This happened 3 or 4 times a few years ago but then we moved and nothing till last month. the car is parked outside our house underneath a lampost on a busy road. The car is locked (we double check) but somehow someone is able to access the car without damaging the car (which is a bonus).

Has this happened to anyone else and is there a solution to make the car secure?

Have spoken to Audi Customer Services and they say the car has the latest security upgrade. I have even taken it to a Audi garage to be looked at but nothing!

HELP!

Thanks in advance for any advice/ideas on what I should do.

Have you had your dealer check that there are no more keys coded to the car than you possess?

Hearsay only but I've heard it discussed that it's possible to intercept and duplicate the code that the key transmits. Never seen it done or heard anything more affirmative than pub-chat.

Really-really unlikely, but have you walked up and down the road pressing your fob to see if another car opens? (especially if a neighbour has an Audi driving visitor).

How far from your bedroom window is the car?
Those cordless rechargeable baby monitors have a good range and I have seen them used before as an advance warning of a break in. Just stick one behind the seats and the noise if somebody moving around inside the car should wake you up.

Has anything been stolen from the car?

My 2007 A6 had a fault that caused the car to unlock itself, it was a faulty earth on the convenience unit ecu. Maybe its not being broken into at all.

Nothing of great value has been stolen, loose change and an old coat. The only reason we know it has been broken into is that everything is chucked out of the glove box and the seats have been moved. When I come home from work I always check the car is locked and have never found it to be open. I have posted on a local forum to where I live (SE London) and one other person seems to have the same problem as me.

I have had the car fully checked out by an Audi garage and there are no faults coming up or any new security software updates available.

I have also spoken to Audi customer services and am waiting for a phonecall back from them. Am intrigued what solution if any they come up with.

Have you asked specifically if there are more keys coded to the car than you possess?

Is it keyless entry or too old for that?

I asked Audi to check and they say there are only 2 keys out there which we possess. Audi did say that the keys can now be made by third parties so there might be another key out there.

The car is a keyless entry.

This is why I asked

The amplifiers are for sale on eBay so not hard to get hold of. It's a possibility - albeit remote possibility.
