I have recently purchased a Tam and i had it checked over at str8 six and all is well.. Good news, the one thing they did pick up on is the rear tyres are 8 years old, however they did say that the tread is good and the sidewalls are also OK.

So question 1 should i replace them?

Now if you suggest replacing them i have a further question...

The fronts are only around 6 months old and they are 225/35 r18 Pirelli PZero Nero GT's and the rears are 235/40 r18 Toyo T1 sports, so should i scrap the lot and get the T1's all round or replace the rears with more toyo or match them with the Pirelli PZero Nero GT's???

Any advice welcome.

8 years old I'd say the rubber will now be not as soft and grippy as it should be so replace.
Personally I don't rate Toyo so would try and match the others if possible. I run Eagle F1 asyms all round and really like them, that said tyres are a very personal choice and you'll get a lot of differing opinions as to what to go for, either way ditch the old ones.

In a word, YES. Put them on eBay for some other poor sucker. The last thing you need on a TVR is crappy old tyres on the back!!

.... I like to have the same tyres all round but what you change then for is up to you...

The tyre matrix is a good guide to what is available.
I have Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres all round and think they are excellent for the road and good for track.

I did a similar thing soon after buying my low-mileage Tam, tyres seemed to be 9 years old so I changed the lots for Toyo T1-Sports (which I am quite happy with).

If the rears are 8 years old then they are T1-S, which preceded the T1-R, which preceded the T1-Sport.

If the fronts are new then, as already suggested, change the rears to the same type of P Zero as well, ideally in the stock size.

There will be lots of views on which tyres are best, but unless you have very particular tastes / requirements, then a full set of P-Zeros should be fine for the car.

I hated the P Zeros on my car. Far too hard a tyre / designed for a much heavier car.

Recently gone for the T1-Sport. Too early really to feed back - still scrubbing them in.

Eagle F1 is a fine choice. But only they only do the front tyre size 225/35 R18 in the old version of the asymmetric.
