Hi Guys - first post here! Recently bought an early series 2 350i. Needs a bit of TLC:

It's been stood for 15 years in a damp garage. Full rebuild planned over the next couple of years. It was originally white according to the logbook so I shall probably go back to that (although I am dithering over the colour!). It's obviously had some accident damage on the rear offside corner in the past which has been poorly repaired - I'm hoping to find the rear end of another series 2 body to use to make a mould to do the repair properly, so if anyone knows the whereabouts of a suitable one please let me know
. I've also joined the TVRCC and hoping to make it along to Chatsworth next month to see what nice wedges look like!
Is this the best place to ask about parts wanted?
Regards
Pete

Yes!Welcome on board Pete - and good luck.
If you look at the FAQ articles there are about 5 rebuild threads so plenty of pictures (and sob stories turning into successes) to look at. Glad to see you are realistic about the timescale.
Hi Pete, welcome to the Wedge forum. I did see your post on the TVR-CC Wedge site. I'll be honest and say that I find the PH forum brilliantly useful for advice and also parts sourcing, plus a good friendly and helpful bunch. If you have a problem then someone on here has most probably had it before and will be willing to share their information.
Good luck with the rebuild - all the best 350i's are green!
Cheers
Keith

Hi and welcome to the mad world of Wedges...Like Keith i saw your post over on the TVRCC forum......I must say though that the two forums, PH & TVRCC are very very different...With no disrespect to either..PH is like the office, Stores and workshop..Oh and the tea room all rolled into one...All questions are welcome...Even silly ones..A sense of humour is handy and we love pictures..
The TVRCC forum is more like a Gentlemen's club...Very laid back and somewhat reserved in its entirety...Although there is a wealth of knowledge to be had from some of the Wedge veterans..Its a place where you can put your feet up at the end of a long week and fart after a big meal as you are dozing off in your Parker knoll....Ahhh....
I must say though i have personally dealt with staff of the TVRCC and always find them polite and helpful...PH will beat you up in a dark alley where you will be until the morning...But them's the rules...

Hopefully if its a long term project they would have gone up a little, as they currently the cost to restore is less than the value. but if you planning on keeping it then it's irrelevant and are a great car to own and work-on.
I've only got S1's 280i 2 x FHC and 1 x DHC plus a 400SE but if any are the same your be happy to come and take a mould, esp as they both currently need re-spays

Hi guys
Thanks for your welcomes and support. The Chatsworth show is Sunday 4th October. I'll be there if the weather is OK! Yes I learned from the TVRCC about the Zender spoiler - all the green paint is flaking off as it's so squashy and flexible!
TVRleigh - thanks very much for the offer to let me take a mould, but I wouldn't want to do it from a good car as the process often ruins any paintwork on it. That's why I would prefer to find a "scrap" body to use.
I'm sure it's going to cost more to restore than to buy one, but I like the process of turning a wreck into a good car! I've also got another Winterbottom wedge - a trackday Lotus Excel (490 hp LS1 in it now!). The 350i is going to stay as a nice road car though - albeit I might make some reversible (in case I ever want to put it back to original) changes to the rear suspension (trailing arm model) for improved handling - already have some ideas for that one!
The parts I'm looking for at the moment are one lattice alloy, one 390SE five spoke split-rim (I have three of each!) and a series 2 heater assembly if anyone has parts they would like to part with!
Cheers

Hi Pete, as said 1 DHC needs a re-spray plus some body working doing, one FHC is currently a donor car, and the other FHC is the racer. they all need painting, so not a problem taking a mould. but also if you put enough wax on 1st it does not normally destroy the paint, also aids on removal. not sure where your based thou.TVRleigh - thanks very much for the offer to let me take a mould, but I wouldn't want to do it from a good car as the process often ruins any paintwork on it. The DHC needs some body work done, so maybe making some small corner mounds myself, going to make a some clay one's 1st so I can compare my DHC and FHC.

Is the old one that bad that it is beyond repair?...Some people have revamped the old unit which has positive effects...Or made a new one from polycarbonate sheet....Mind you if the fan is knackered then you could do the above and fit a new fan from CBS or something like this from Demon weeks...https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=...
Not sure if it will fit though as i don't have a clue what the dimensions are for what is in mine....
Thanks mrzigazaga - the grey plastic housing on mine is splitting at a few of the seams, and the fan seems like almost an afterthought, although I'm getting the impression that TADTS! I think someone may have already "modified"
the levers on mine as well. I like the idea of fitting a more effective fan - I'll spend a couple of hours on the net looking for ideas. The Demon Tweeks offering is interesting. Haven't looked at CBS yet. Thanks for the ideas.

Good to see another Wedge being rescued! Big fan of white Wedges too (if you choose to return it to white), I had a white 400SE a few years ago.
Did the early series 2 400's all have the twin exhausts?
BBWF (first ever Wedge Fest!) 2004.. Picture became known as 'White Wedging' pic. A couple who happened to be getting married at the hotel asked if they could get some pics with all the white Wedges.

Hi Waynester
Brilliant photo!
What I have been told is that early series 2 cars with trailing arm rear suspension had exhausts on either side of the car, and series 2 cars with the A-frame rear suspension had both exhausts exiting on the offside.
I'm still dithering over the colour
White is my first choice (as it came out of the factory), or an even darker metallic green. I've got plenty of time to decide!
