Internet explorer keeps on running without my permission.

My only clue to it running is that it generally freezes my laptop, a Toshiba Satellite.

If I go to task manager and 'end process' everything returns to normal again.

I have antivirused, spybotted, adawared, hijacked this, spyware blasterd all to nao avail.

WTF do I do next guys?

Have a look in MSCONFIG and see if anything unusual is set in your startup menu.

Apparently, the MS Beta spyware stuff tells me i have magiclick backdoor trojan.

I have identified a couple of files, 'mmsysdll.dll' and 'sname' which apart from the fact they are nearly undeletable (I get them from command prompt in safe mode) they keep on repawning every reboot.

I still get numerous instances of 'iexplorer exe' in task manager appearing, but with no ie actually running on screen.

Google'd etc, but cant find any relevant files on the pc. I suspect MS is misreporting the name of the trojan.

Any ideas guys. Dont reeeeeaaaally want to re bloody format!

I had a similar problem with multiple instances of IE.I found an item "Longfastarmy" running in startup.I managed to remove the folder it was in by starting up in safe mode.I also removed every mention of it in the registry.I had another uninvited guest wich was in a folder called "way jugs iso" got rid of that the same way.Don't know if this is of any help.
