Steering rack removal
Discussion
The rack itself is only held onto the subframe by two bolts and nuts - Releasing the column from its coupling and reslotting it back into place can be a bit of a faff - probably easiest with a helper to jiggle the steering wheel a bit while someone is under the car at the rack end - but I managed that on my own with a bit of perseverance...
I contacted the fish and spoke with Andy who said that you can use the following replacement part for the quick rack.

If I am feeling brave however he did say you could gently bend the old one to fit but if it's rusty...well we all know what happens there so I've opted to just buy the part, for £40+ it'll save a headache.

I thought the quick rack was designed for the LS2 style fittings, not the LS1?
Anyway since you will be removing the rack it would be a good idea to do the headers as well, as you'll need to remove the rack to get the driver's side header in.
The ones I've done have all needed the pipe but to be fair Vincent as we have found bar the engine & exhaust most of your car is ls2 style Anyway since you will be removing the rack it would be a good idea to do the headers as well, as you'll need to remove the rack to get the driver's side header in.

The Quick rack is a mod for CV8 and VXR but the QR unit is a CV8 rack which has the mountings in slightly different position. Have always got a new pipe for £40 when fitting new QR to a VXR. they bend easily but also snap easily. MF always have the pipes in stockAnyway since you will be removing the rack it would be a good idea to do the headers as well, as you'll need to remove the rack to get the driver's side header in.
Not the clearest pic but you should get the idea. The heads of the stands are on the chassis rails and i jacked up the sill on the jacking point till i could get my big jack under the cross member behind the sump taking care not to actually touch the sump then steadily raised the car till the stands would go under the sill jack points then raised further till they would go under the chassis. It was rock solid once up there but dose make you nervous getting it there. Dont jack on the front corners of the sills where the out riggers are it looks like a nice place to jack but its weak and will crumple. You also want to make sure you put them out of the way for when you getting the headers in.

Ok so I've been messing with this installation of my Pedders quick rack for some time now with the help of Paul. I found it a real pain to get the pipes plubmed back in and had to buy the CV8 replacement pipe from Monkfish due to the hole alignment. I've put the pipes in but I need some confrimation that it's accurate. The pipes only fit one hole as I test fitted them out of the car. Can anyone confirm if this is accurate or not?
