Hi everybody, I'm new to this site and have a 2005 Monaro VXR. Absolutely love it and am in the process of renewing various parts to get it into as new a condition.
It comes with a chequered history. It has a Pontiac dash and my question is would the American version have the fog light warning light included as mine seems to be missing.
I realise this could be a MOT failure. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers Terry

Do you mean the gauge cluster? It might just be the paper bit behind the needles.

Welcome! smile

Rear fog I thought was never on any Monaro dash? Could be wrong. Mine is a light up switch but mine is older style dash.

Just looked at my spare clusters (04 monaro and I think 04 GTO), and the GTO one does look like it's missing a foglight symbol...it is a little hard to see let along photograph (black on black, further obscured by the clear front), but certainly seems that way.

I have a 2006 CV8 Monaro and that has both front and rear foglight 'on' indications in the cluster. If that helps!

Appreciate all your comments, I think the American version doesn't have the fog lights displayed.

Thanks.

04 gto certainly seems not to, so probably not 05/06 either. You could have had the card out of my spare 04 uk cluster, but it's different to later ones. A whole used cluster isn't very expensive, but obviously the mileage will be wrong. Not sure on coding issues, but they seem pretty dumb.

Thanks Mud, but will leave it as is. Got through the last MOT ok so will take it back to the same place.

For reference, the cluster is easily removable if you need to, just remove the bezel (2 screws at top IIRC), then 4 screws on the cluster itself, then one connector on the back and it's free.

If it's a GTO dash it probably won't have the rear fog indicator as it's not a requirement on American cars. My corvettes had fog lights added as part of the SVA and just fitted a switch had a LED on it which lit up when turned on and that is good enough for SVA and MOT.
