e63 acceleration issue

Hi guys,

Just after some suggestions with my wife's E63 630i. We have an intermittent acceleration problem which occasionally occurs at light throttle openings such as pulling onto a roundabout. Basically if you accelerate the car seems to stutter and not go, eventually it will clear and accelerate as normal. It's been in to BMW but they haven't been able to reproduce the issue so we are none the wiser. Any suggestions as it's actually quite dangerous when it does happen so keen to get sorted.

I had this, it's why I sold it. Would happen once a week or something.

I rememebr checking the fault codes once and there was something Vanos related but warranty company weren't interested.

Get it on a diagnostic machine.

Could be a throttle position sensor.

Is it the n53 engine?!
If so I've had similar issues in my 330i. I had the injectors cleaned which were filthy as direct injection. They cannot be cleaned properly, but my local bosch diesel injection company put them in cleaning fluid and ultra sonically cleaned them. This made it drive better, however it still stuttered on the odd occasion. I've since replaced all of the coil packs, and this has cured it!! Drives amazing now!!

I have the same acceleration problem with my 630. It can occur when I am stationary and try to accelerate off OR when I am travelling and want to accelerate to go faster.

Did you get your acceleration issue solved? Please can you share what things you checked (so I can rule things out to problem solve this). It's an annoying problem as well as a dangerous one.

I have had the diagnostics checked and it is showing no problem - very frustrating !

I had this happen in my N52 630i - turned out to be a massive hole in one of the vacuum hoses buried out of sight. Wouldn't throw a code and it took my specialist a bit of digging to find the cause of the problem.

Wow, old thread resurrection! Unfortunately we (BMW) never got to the bottom of it as they could never reproduce the error and as mentioned above it wasn’t throwing any codes. In the end my wife part exchanged the car any way. Sorry I can’t be of more help, hope you manage to sort it.
