Recent EU working rule

I know its early days yet and people have yet to fully digest the latest EU ruling of when work starts & stops when you have to travel but does anyone think it could also apply to driving to product update courses beyond your normal work commute?
The reason I am asking this question is sometimes (Always) we have to leave early in the morning & drive to the course venue typically 2-3 hours away, start the day at the training centre (8:30-9am) finish at 4:30-5pm then drive home.
This can potentially add an extra 4 hours or more above our normal working day especially if it is a one day course.
Your opinions please if you think it should classed as overtime or part of the working day??

Imo the EU ruling changes nowt. If you want to get on in your career you'll do more than the bare minimum anyway.

If you're salaried, on a 40hr week, and going to fewer than two of these a week on an irregular basis it won't make any difference to you anyway.

Very much what I concluded guys but I had to ask the question.
I am not looking for extra money & my career very much on track but from previous experience any benifit towards employees dosen't always filter down.

How often do you have to do a product update course and a journey like that? What is stoping you from an over night stop? The working time directive from long time memory looks at your working hours over a 17 week period so a couple of long stint weeks won't necessarily touch the sides.
