Had this over 7 months now, figured it was time to post a pic or two.
This was my third attempt at buying one - got distracted by buying an Audi RS2 first time, then second time I bought a VXR8 instead...third time lucky.
There are really, really terrible examples out there
This was my 5th viewing, and 10th enquiry. Nearly everyone was selling as the brakes needed replacing (£1500) or the major service was due (£800-1500) or other reasons. This one was far the best of the bunch I'd viewed.
Or not so - shortly after purchase, the gearbox would (very occasionally) stick in gear, figured I was doing something wrong. Over the weeks, got worse, so took it to VMPT who diagnosed all kinds of problems, relieved me of £2500 and sent me on my way with essentially new gearbox.
So an expensive start to AMG ownership. Otherwise, it's fairly well specced with HK audio, memory seats plus other toys. I'd rather have the multispoke alloys, but don't mind these either.
Obviously makes a great noise - it'd be better as a manual, and it's shame you can't turn off the TC, but otherwise, they're fantastic cars
