Having spent nearly 3 hours cleaning my cheap Tefal fryer, I'm on the lookout for one that's easier to clean. Probably my fault, as I don't change the oil very often, just when it foams up and threatens to overflow. Pretty much impossible to empty the thing without making a mess.
Having read reviews of the fancy "actifry" types, I'm pretty sure I want to stay with a proper fat fryer. I want crispy chips, not mushy things with burnt edges. I don't want to wait 30 minutes, either.

Breville fryers with drain tubes get good reviews, but are they easy to clean?
Any recommendations?

I'd just go for a cheapo basket fryer. The oil pans scrub out in 2 mins and the basket goes through the dishwasher.

throw away when completely knackered.

I miss deep fat fryer chips and onion rings, no one seems to have deep fat fryers these days (apart from OP, obviously) and that is a shame.

They had a special on in Lidl this week.
£24

No idea how good it is (it heats up oil, how bad can it be?) or easy to clean but at that price it's pretty much disposable.

One of these from Sainsburys

Cost 40 quid (if I remember correctly) and everything goes in the dishwasher except the element of course.

Gets up to a nice 190f for crispy chips and cooks chicken great.

Damn that's nice looking. I was going to comment that "easy to clean" doesn't go well with fat fryers, but that looks pretty tidy.

DeLonghi do one that you can disconnect the electrical connection and controller from and them wash / dish wash the rest of the fryer - the body and lid as well as the basket and a non stick frying chamber. They are about £50 or £60.

I've got something similar to this, not sure how I made it through life before. Actually, I do, I used to keep a big pan full of oil to do chips stashed away in a cupboard. This is much easier and easy to clean/replace the oil.

All part of the old Outdoor Redneck Kitchen.

When I'm BBQ'ing, it tends to be an all day thing so there's a few snacks before the main event.

Chicken tenders, Pork Cracklin's, Chips, Beer etc. all the major healthy food groups biggrin

Once I'm done with the fryer, I filter the oil (after it's cool obviously) and that goes back into 1 gallon containers.
The fryer goes in the dishwasher and then the cupboards don't get all stinky.

Agreed. I've got a cheap (15 quid) fryer from Currys. Does the job perfectly and, as said, the mucky bits go in the dishwasher. The extended warranty was only £50 wink
