Slightly O/T but what about those Square Speed Humps that sit under your car as you cross them.
There's some on my journey to work which are outside a school and the amount of drivers I see that drive between them in the middle of the road! How long before someone crashes?

People have been doing that for years
Also, those "accelerating down the sliproad not expecting others to be reversing" should be looking out in case there is a traffic jam - observation innit?
Obviously out of order though. The worst thing when you turn onto a slip road and see miles of solid traffic at the stage where it's impossible to do anything other than sit in it
Perhaps electronic signs at the top of the slip road warning of the jam would help?

Best way to negotiate them is to have an equal distance between them and your wheels..(on your side of the road)...to go in between two is too much of a bump..
It impatience, and a feeling that its worth the risk if it saves me 10mins, stupid but not uncommon. The people who are reversing on the slip roads will be the same people who ignore the right lane closed signs and try and cut in at the last minute, we can only hope that if they do have a smash its with one of Scannias finest and not some poor bugger in his saloon car.
Hopefully the CCTV cameras caught their VRNs and an NIP is winging its way through the post!

Just a quick hijack : the red cross means "you may proceed no further in this lane", right?
Sometimes see this southbound at the BLackwall Tunnel when RH lane is closed off.
I am torn over it though. Part of me says as soon as you see the <- arrows on the gantry you should pull in, part of me says you should have pulled in by the red cross, and part of me says why not just merge in turn at the cones (although latter is probably illegal if it means passing the red X).
Trouble is, everybody has different ideas, so tempers flare, etc.

In Rufforth there are four pairs of these square speed humps in a 20 mph zone near the village school. I try to go astride them but I can't avoid them completely. What I need is a slightly wider car.

Depends how low your car is. Fine on my A6, which usually crosses these bumps with the tiniest of bumps, but our TT needs more careful approach and the TVR, well I stop, crawl over with one side of the car. Otherwise I'd get stuck
