Help ! Silicone hose kit or Afterburners ?
Discussion
As I've had the Cerb for a couple of months now
I feel the need to start modifying, I've been thinking of a silicone hose kit or afterburners.
How easy are the silicone hose kits to fit, I know its a case of replacing rubber hose for silicone hose, but are there problem areas
? Prone to air-locks etc, hard to get at areas ? Is this a case of if not broke don't fix it type of thing or ask joospeed at next service ?
Apart from looking good, do the hoses offer any other benefit ?
Could anyone give me a heads up from experience of having done this before.
Looking through the threads on afterburners it seems as though they're easier to fit, but do the lenses always need resealing, if so I'm crap with sealer it will look like a massacre
after i've finished with it ?
Maybe I should just go for the shiny handbrake lever - sooo many choices !

Done all three.
Shiny handbrake lever is easy
Afterburners took a couple of hours. I didn't reseal on the inside because my car is completely dry inside, no leaks. I haven't had any problems with misting on the light cover.
Basically there are about three screws hidden under the trim holding the old unit in place. Remove it, rewire for the new one and screw back in. You don't need to touch the outside cover so even if you need to use a bit of sealant you prob won't notice it.
Silicon hose kit. If you are going to do it then you might aswell replace the metal pipes down there for stainless. Job took about a day and a half including bleeding (system and knuckles).
Theres a couple of nightmare ones that I couldn't get to. One that goes under the sump guard and one the goes to bottom drivers side of radiator. Make sure you have plenty of hose clips. I ended up using a hacksaw to cut the old ones off.
Be careful of the temperature sensor for the gauge. small metal tube with metal wire round it. It's quite delicate and if you break it you need a complete new gauge assembly.
Bleeding is a piece of cake.
Good luck!!!
would do but my car is in yorkshire and i'm in north africa at the moment (hence why i'm spending so much time on ph these days).
i'm sure somebody else will be along shortly with piccies. don't know if there is a silicon kit as such for the speed6. i wouldn't bother about it too much unless you needed to do some work on the cooling system anyway (hindsight is 20/20).
