DB 11 name official

Part of me is thankful that the DB11 spy shots seem to show it as following the traditional DB9 style. I wouldn't want AM to move too far away from their successful design formula which has made it the most admired car in the world.
However the extra bodywork parts spot welded onto a DB9 lookalike and designed to put us off the trail makes me slightly anxious and I hope they are not going to do something too silly. I'm only just getting acclimatised to the strange headlight intake mixup on the One-77.

No, that design is bad in so many ways. It came from a newspaper photoshop mockup - not from Marek R thank goodness, but... the not-quite-meeting front window sills containing the side mirrors, the Alien-style mini-grill inside the grill, the peculiar running board (which looks like it will break the moment any model over 3 stone steps on it), the lack of haunch swooping down to what - a Lexus SC430 backend?, the lack of the compulsory and distinctive side strake... is all wrong, hideously wrong!kensilver said:

The existing range designs have been very widely admired, although we have heard the comments about the similar appearance of each model.
I think the next designs will be crucial for AML, because they have to excite prospective buyers and increase sales numbers. Not sure an evolution design will achieve that. The Autocar picture (and I think they wrote that they had been shown the DB11) shows a car with an almost identical outline to the existing range.
MR has a very difficult task, and I hope it is successful.
It my be only my own humour, but the front design is intriguing. I can see a second miniature car with a number plate, just waiting to drive out from under the bonnet.

In a week that Porsche reveal a new all electric saloon concept with 600 lb ft torque and 0-60 in 3.5 s, Bentley reveal their new SUV (sold out for 12 months now with actual deposits for est c. 3,000 cars) and Aston Martin reveal.................a badge
I don't get why they would choose Frankfurt week, with all that is being revealed there, just to confirm a name that we all knew and a new font for the badge - who on earth advises AML on these matters !

We all agree that it's a mock up and therefore I assume just a crude idea of the design of the new model.I would hope that the finished article will address some of your comments.
Some of the best cars carry very strong design through the generations - 911, FFRR . Do they need to do much to the exterior - evolution more than revoution. Add 2 inch more head and leg room inside and a new overall interior, lighter, faster... Bit of tech. They can try too hard in my book on the looks as it ain't really broke in that department.

You're right in many respects, however after 10 odd years it's nice to have a modest evolution in design.I'd be happy with a boot with more capacity, usable interior storage, more legroom at the rear and better fuel economy.

Yes full fat range rover. The shape is unmistakable over the years but you wouldn't look at a new one and go "thats old fashioned". People kind of say that about the 911 but that's also both unmistakable and different from what went before. Its a difficult job to pull off that's for sure and I think Marek is more Bangle than Calum ie a little more style over substance.
The underpinnings and inside needs sorting though, that's for sure. Lighter, bigger, faster and the rest.
Do you like this better? I prefer the first 'guess' to this one.
