Minecraft - which version?

Daughter has expressed a wish to play Minecraft and with her 9th birthday coming up I'm off to the shops!

Is there any preference or advantage as to which version of Minecraft to get? We've got a PS3, Wii, Android 8" Tablet, Nintendo DS and a Mac Mini in the house

There's no Nintendo version afaik. I've the PS3 and PC version, the PS3 has a decent tutorial, and it's slightly easier to craft stuff.

Expect to lose that TV forever though!

PS3 version seems good and you can just download it. You'll also be having your pocket picked for skin packs etc. pretty soon!

Ours play via pc, they have PS3 also but seem to want to play this on PC.

Say goodbye to her now, it's the last you'll see of her once that starts, I bloody hate the thing!

Minecraft is all about the mods, and that means PC/Mac. The console versions are OK so far as they go, but they are very much second-class compared to the full-fat experience.

Disclaimer: this is what my kids say. I've never so much as laid a block.
