IIRC when looking for one around 2.5 years ago, a fairly stock Monaro came up for sale that had 300k plus miles (can't remember the exact number). It was an honest ad, and despite the miles, wore its age well, with the usual saggy bolsters and stone chipping. Had a long list of replaced parts (suspension, rads, pipes etc) so had the appearance of being well maintained and was still running well. No idea if it was bought and used or bought and scrapped/cut up but was a good advert for the longevity of these under stressed engines.

I remember that one.

Think it had around 250k miles on the clock and sold for about £5k.

99t's thread has encouraged me to look again at my VT2...

...bet it has more rust in it than his car (which was pretty scary)

Mileage is such a dirty word for some people but these cars can rattle off over 100k and act like they've only done about 20k. Cars are made for driving and these cars just can't be sat doing nothing, they are far too much fun for that.

My old 1993 Cavalier Turbo has done over 170k miles and last year I drove it from Aberdeen to Ibiza and back again including a track day in Valencia....she never battered an eyelid.

I'm a strong believer in if you look after your car it'll look after you, regular servicing will keep them running well. My monaro is over 100k now, I think she's 109 or 110. You'd not believe it.

Agreed, a great read.

Mine is on 104k and is used daily, and in the 2.5 years I've had it I've done nearly 20k in it. I did try and get as low a mileage one as possible, however the mrket at the time was limited and this one was the right one (for me). Would I recommend a high mileage one? Yes, if the price is right, and you go in with your eyes open as to what may need replacing (as with any car with high-ish miles).
