Primarily just confirms what we mostly knew or assumed
I'd still not put money on there being a 3 pedal DB11 with what most of us believe to be the initial engine offering i.e. a twin turbo V12. I know nothing and of course I've read the article which states the contrary, so it's entirely down to gut feel, but I just don't see it happening. I'm not even sure a GT with a twin turbo V12 launched in 2016 makes sense with a manual box. For the Vantage replacement, perhaps more likely

I would expect Dr. Palmer to keep his word (unwise not to these days, with comments retained on the internet) and offer a manual option for DB11.
As you say Jonby, with the GT nature of the car and the immense torque available, one would not expect many manuals to be ordered. Obviously with the Vantage replacement, it might be a more popular option.
I think I read somewhere, that a significant proportion of the present V8V cars are ordered as SportsShift. Don't know the percentage though.
I enjoy the involvement aspect with my manual 4.7, but for the Mercedes-Benz coupe, auto (no choice) suits the car, but it does make me feel relaxed and lazy.

In the last few months for various reasons I have had the chance to speak with a number of people in AML and the consistent theme is that there is little demand for the manual versions and commercially there is little reason for the extra spend involved to make them available.
However, Andy Palmer's article appears to go against that. Although the words say they will I think it is more an aspiration and wouldn't be surprised that once the new models are available there will not be a manual version. I agree with Jonby that it is more likely in the Vantage but what is the likelihood of AMG allowing Aston to have a manual version and then that leaves the V12? I guess time will tell!

they will do a manual 'club sport' DB11 with NA V12, lightweight seats, no rear seats, delete other things and rear roll cage
some time in 2020
And call it GT3, or no wait a minute, they can't do that or Porsche won't be happy, so GT12 then but that's already been used, they could still call it GT11!
some time in 2020
