"S" Hard Top or Not ?
Discussion
I am led to believe that I have a mould for a hard top to fit the "S" car. I inherited it when I bought some other TVR moulds quite some years ago now and this mould was in the heap. A friend of mine has suggested that the only hard top "S" he has ever seen was the Cosworth factory race car in pictures and a video. Does any one think this is a hard roof mould for the "S" car.

I agree with Adrian, the system of mounting to the front rail does look very much like the tang system used on an S. Furthermore the 'recess' moulded into the back looks very much like the shape of the original S rear screen. Interesting.
Where are you? Shouldnt be too much trouble to get one of us to you to check.
If it is correct for an S, what would you wish to do? Make some or sell the mould to someone who would?

Richard I agree some one with knowledge needs to come look at it to see if it is the original mould from 1987. I have sent you a pm as a start. I have very little knowledge of the "S" cars I'm sorry to say. If owners would want a hard top , I,m more than happy to try and sort that or help make the mould available to another professional party. I would say from the shape the rear screen was proposed to be plexi or shaped solid polycarb. Not seen a picture of the race car any one got one to post up.
I know a lot of the keen guys are away on eurotour at the moment. However we need to try to find someone with an S in the SW, prepared to go to Exeter to compare dimensions to confirm this is indeed for an S. Any offers? (I am in the NW). I will bump this again when the eurotour is back.
Add me to the list of "wanna try".
With winter coming (again), I have been contemplating how to make hard top but sadly work is a bit hectic and I'm back off to sea at the end of the month. Would love to keep tabs on where this mould ends up but please don't destroy it.
Agree with all the comments above, the shape/tines/flare on the corners to meet the front edge all look right for an S.

would love the option of a hard top. im afraid im miles away in birmingham otherwise i would of checked it outHi All
Don't think it's a S hard top, I say that as that type of mould would bolt to the tub moulds, they would add a jointing paste to the tub mould, lay the top up and join the two. The holes in the mould would bolt the moulds together, when set and removed from the mould the body would be sanded to remove moulding flash.
You would have to do a mould and see where it fits the S body and work from there.
